The artist, Melinda Lowry, has been drawing all her life. Her first passion was drawing
animals, but a new door opened when she started doing tactical artwork. "While working on
the mural at Swanson Tactical Training Center, I stood back to look at the men I was
painting, standing in formation with all their gear on—I was overcome with appreciation for
everyone serving their country." Melinda stated, "There are a lot of things that go on
behind the scenes that we don't know about, and we are able to live our lives because of
the men and women who have dedicated themselves to protect and serve their country."
She wanted to convey this appreciation through her artwork and is passionate about the
drawings and paintings she creates. "It's one thing I can do to let the 'sheepdogs' know
how grateful I am for their service."
